As I was preparing for our annual family beach trip, I realized that I was tired of carrying multiple bag for my two toddler boys. I thought to myself, "There must be a better way." I turned to my friend Pinterest for some inspiration. I found a couple of great pins about making "restaurant kits."
I loved the idea, but wanted to find a way to combine a restaurant kit and a diaper/snack bag into ONE BAG!!!
Here is what I did:
I took the Hanna Andersson backpack we've been using for the past year or so as a diaper/toy bag and emptied it out. It washed great in the washing machine, too!
Then I thought about what I really wanted in the bag and how I could get it all to fit.
I found in my bathroom cabinet a hang-up tolietry case I had forgotten about. I cleaned it up and filled it with the following:
top clear pouch:
2 mini books from Chick-Fil-A kids' meals and matching game cards from Dollar Tree.
middle clear pouch:
a note pad and crayons. (Crayons are in a nifty cloth, roll-up case I bought on Zulily a few months ago!)
bottom pouch:
match box cars, dinosaur figurines, small pack of wipes, granola bars and fruit snacks
I used a gallon Ziplock bag for extra clothes for my potty training little one and another gallon sized Ziplock bag for diapers, wipes, diaper cream, pull ups and disposable changing pads.
I used a Dollar Tree rectangular plastic marker case for the disposable bibs, utensils and place mats.
The front pouch of the back pack I used for fruit squeezes and a few other non-perishable snacks. This particular back pack has elastic pouches on each side that can be used for sippy cups!
I'm pretty excited about my consolidation, and hope it can be helpful to you!
